ABOUT ME
I am a vertebrate paleontologist and anatomist with a broad interest in the paleoecology and paleobiology of fossil primates. My research areas include Neogene African mammal evolution, primate dental form & function, systematics of Miocene monkeys and apes, and mammal community dynamics in deep-time.
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine where I teach content in human gross anatomy, embryology, and histology. I am also interested in mentoring student research on human anatomical variation and anatomy education.
I received my PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology from Arizona State University in 2021, supervised by Drs. Kaye Reed (chair), Gary Schwartz, and Jay Kelley. I retain an ongoing research affiliation with the Institute of Human Origins at Arizona State University. My dissertation research used 3D topographic analyses to measure shape changes in the dentition of early representatives of Cercopithecoidea (the Old World monkey clade) relative to other contemporaneous catarrhines (Old World monkeys & apes) during the early and middle Miocene.
I am a current collaborator on the Maboko Research Project in southwestern Kenya and the Buluk Paleontological Research Project in northern Kenya, exploring the paleoenvironments and fauna associated with two different primate communities at the early-middle Miocene transition.
